One guy says he feels like they have too much of a "country club clubhouse" atmosphere. The other guy agreed and said they needed more grit. They didn't have enough grit. Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz aren't grit guys, but he feels like Kyle Seager could be that guy with grit, but so far he hasn't shown it.
Seager is hitting .255/.300/.402. The last couple years, he's been about a .264/.336/.440 guy. I wonder what he needs to be hitting to show that he has grit?
His Batting Average on Balls In Play (BABIP) the last two years is .293. His BABIP this year is .261. If you bump up his BABIP this year from .261 to .295, adding just singles, he would be hitting .284/.327/.431. That's not far off from what he hit the last two years when he, supposedly, had grit.
The difference is three singles. Three singles = grit.
